Acting Now
It feels too late but it is not too late
To agree on just one thing together
And act as if we can change our fate
Before we’re lost forever.

Consider it thankless and consider it hard
To catch this wilting, falling Earth,
But we’re the ones who must stand guard
If Atlas shrugs or trips or burps.

For unless we turn it all around,
Start again (but do it right),
The curtain will come crashing down
On a very avoidable plight.

We all must share the stage today
And let the spotlight blind us
We’ll help each other find our way
And leave our past behind us.

She birthed you, and offered her kindness.
She colored your cheeks
the color of sedimentary rocks,
only more vivid. More vibrant.

It was her way of whispering all her secrets.
Into you.
You consumed. And continue—

Lessons absorbed, your mind morphed
An explosive thrill, never to be fulfilled,
Only replenished, replenished, replenished.
It was heaven. Creative boom,
the exploration of her womb.
The showcase.

To the world.

To you.

Secrets, aren’t valuable, unless revealed,
you say.
But one day—
The washing away, will cease. And the water
that cleanses evermore, will be no more.

The resources she offered, will be mosaics
on the altar. You’ll say, she’s changed, but
her ocean will never push the currents your way.
Only pull.
And pull and pull.
Until it’s an ironic thing.
Printed on your newest T-shirt.
